2018 is here!

A BIG reason you are here is that you have taken a resolution to get fit and do not want to fail.

Maybe you have failed in the past or, maybe you are an ambitious person like me who wants to nail it the first time. Either way, the goal is the same here, and the purpose of this article is to ensure you are successful this time around. First of all, I know people give a lot of stick to having a resolution for getting fit. But should you care about that?

Absolutely NOT.

A funny insight, though bashed, fitness is one of the top resolutions for people every year. Even for 2018.

How do you go about it? How to make sure that the January steam does not cool off by February? I got you, here's a list:

1. Have realistic goals

'Lose 10 kilos in a month' or 'Drop 4 inches in a week' sure make exciting headlines and click baits, but do they work? More often than not. Fantasy is all mesmerizing and looks good in books and movies but when it comes to your fitness, it is rather harsh on your body and might do more harm than good.

Rather, set realistic goals and do it to adapt to a better lifestyle. And by that, we absolutely do NOT mean that you should live off boiled chicken and broccoli to get fit or stay fit. A good start would be you taking a decision to get yourself to go to the gym at least 4 times a week and not order burgers with a side of fries for lunch.

2. Be in it for the long run

One of the most, if not, overused fitness quote that 'fitness is not a sprint, but a marathon,' is 100% true. Let's say you participate in a marathon. You are not going to sprint in it, right? Or else you are going to burn yourself within five minutes.

Treat getting fit the same way. A 180-degree overhaul by just eating salads, doing loads of cardio, etc. is bound to smack you in the face. Take it slow. Ditch the stone-age method of just eating particular foods that are 'fat-loss friendly' or restricting yourself way too much. Our coaches are known to set up plans that are inclusive rather than being exclusive and are more accommodative, making it sustainable.

And do not take my word when I say they provide results. Check it out yourself.

3. Habits, habits, habits...

Nobody got fat eating that one huge meal with pizza and ice-cream over dinner one night. Similarly, nobody lost a ton of weight or woke up a fitter self because they ate a healthy meal for dinner. We are a result of our habits. Do it one step at a time and make sure you will enjoy taking that step everytime. This way, it will not be a 12-week transformation that disappeared after 4-weeks of getting done.

4. Pre-plan and make it a routine

I am not going to use another overused quote here but once you set out, plan things in advance. One of the problems that come with dieting is the cravings. If you have the food in your kitchen, you are going to eat it. Plan things ahead and do not keep these craving-inducing food around you.

Another thing is to set a routine for yourself. This will not make it another failed resolution. You are eating right and training well, pretty cool. Also, try doing other things like no-screens rule an hour before bedtime and try to get 7-8 hours of sound sleep every night. You will wake up fresh and the laziness that results in let's skip the gym just today will disappear.

5. Do it for yourself

This is what most of us fail to do when we set out. Okay, so making things a bit clear here, getting fit is cool. But you have to go the extra mile to get those abs, a chiselled physique, or do a photoshoot. Will it make you happy? That depends. If you are doing something to prove someone wrong or to do it to shove it in the face of someone, what next once you do it?

It is not going to make you happy. Just make sure that whatever you do is something that YOU want. Now that I have hooked you up with these awesome tips to make sure you do not fail this year, go on and make yourself proud.
