We all pray to the Keto God above to come and whisk away the fat goblins. For I woke up today weighing high, but I no more like so much fat on my thigh. So I shall take the Low Carb route, I heard it gives everyone’s fat the boot.

Prancing from one famous diet to another may give you a false sense of achievement. But does switching between branded diets help with fat loss?
The main goal of any legitimate diet for fat loss is to create a calorific deficit.
Calorie Deficit = Calories to maintain current body weight - Calories consumed
For losing 1 pound of fat, you must burn 3500 calories. If you maintain a certain percentage of calorific deficit every day, you will eventually lose weight.
Any efficient diet will create a calorific deficit while:
Allowing body to consume all the necessary nutrients as per daily requirements
Allowing you to stay active in your day-to-day activities.

Based on your lifestyle: sedentary, active, athletic etc., you can estimate how many calories you burn. If the (eaten calories - burned calories) equation creates an overall calorie deficit, you are on the right diet.

The Magic Diet?
If you have begun your fitness journey, you are likely to come across the flashy banners of This Magic Diet and That Miracle diet to lose weight. You will be bamboozled into spending your hard-earned cash by phrases like ‘reduced insulin levels’, ‘Ketosis’, ‘avoid carbs like the plague’. While there is some scientific truth behind all these claims, they are not the whole story.

Ketogenic and Low Carb Diets(LCD) aren’t the ultimate solutions for immediate fat loss. Your diet should be specific to your body and body goals. Talk to a certified nutritionist/fitness instructor for a dietary routine that you can follow for a long period. It could be any diet that creates an optimum calorific deficit in the body, i.e. without leaving you feeling drained and hungry.

But...but.. they lost weight with Keto!

Our bodies may all pick from the same organ pool but genetically we are all wired differently. Weight loss depends on the individual nature of your body, in terms of how and where it stores fat. It depends on pre-existing conditions like inability to process insulin. It depends on your actual weight, your exercise regimen, your macros etc..
One diet will not work for everyone.

Long term fitness?

Don’t simply look for a temporary weight loss solution. Look for a lifestyle change. Embrace fitness for life instead of extreme dieting for weight loss. If you simply adhere to a strict diet for 2 months and then go back to your unhealthy ways, you might gain more pounds back. Focus on sustaining a healthy schedule, from diet to workout, which helps you attain your desired body goals and maintain them
