One of the difficult tasks is staying away from outside food when dieting. Since most of us are out of our homes for most of the day, refraining from eating out is hardly an option. The problem with diet related explanations is that they can often make us feel isolated, self-conscious about our weight and can offend others unintentionally by suggesting what they are offering and eating themselves is unhealthy.
If you aren’t comfortable telling people you are on a diet and that's the reason you don't want anything to eat and drink, try these simple yet genuine excuses -
I'm still a little full from my last meal.
My stomach is feeling a bit uneasy.
I've just taken some medicine and can't eat for an hour or so.
I'm not hungry right now but I'd love to take some home with me.
Implementing the following tactics can also help you stay away from outside food-
Carry small snacks with you in your bag- Be a smart eater by packing small, healthy snacks in your bag that you can reach for inconspicuously throughout the day. This will allow you to stay full without eating empty calories. Snacks like raw almonds, dark chocolate, and veggie sticks with peanut butter or hummus can help to keep you full.
Drink sufficient amount of water- Drinking water will not only keep you healthy and hydrated, it can also act as an appetite suppressant. Sip water throughout the day to prevent your stomach from becoming completely empty, leading to high hunger levels.
Eat your meals alone or with others who are dieting- To avoid having to defend your diet, you may want to consider having your meals all by yourself. Eating alone can be an isolating experience, especially if it is done on a daily basis for all your meals. You may want to consider instead eating around individuals who will not question your diet.
Foods to completely avoid during your weight loss diet-
Aerated Drinks- Aerated drinks like soft drinks, soda’s contain high amounts of sugar. Try to drink a lot of water while you are thirsty. replace these aerated drinks with lemon water, buttermilk, green tea.
Fast Foods- Fast foods like pizzas, burgers, cakes must be completely avoided on a weight loss diet, as these foods have low nutritional value and high amount of calories. Replace these fast foods with healthy homemade foods like oatmeal, fruit snacks.
Desserts- Most of us have a sweet tooth and it’s impossible to imagine a day without desserts. These desserts contain high amounts of sugar, cream and other fatty products. You can replace them with natural fresh fruits.
